Last Day

Last day of summer… so sad. Just don’t feel like I had summer this year – and definitely didn’t absorb enough vitamin D!

The Beach

We finally made it to the beach this summer – sure it was the last official weekend of the summer but we did it! We picked up our old friend Dianna on the way (and played with her dog Sadie for a bit) and hit Port Elgin! Doug was excited to have his favourite Cobb salad but it had been changed and wasn’t the same. The afternoon was lovely on the beach and getting there at 3 was a little busy but the crowds soon left and we were able to walk the beach without the busyness. Doug and I had dinner at Lord Elgin (known for their great fish and chips) and then had a round of ladder ball before heading home! The moon was perfect as it was last year on our last beach day!

Fall

I’m really thinking I need to put the flannel sheets and electric blanket on the bed! Brrr.. it’s still August!

My New Love…

I discovered the Fleur de Sel bar recently and am in love! Salt and chocolate together? How perfect!

Long Weekend

To start off our long weekend we went to Cambridge to the Mill Race Folk Music Festval . I wasn’t super enthralled with the idea as we had been to a folk festival years ago and I didn’t really like the music! Well, last night was awesome! The first group had a very east coast feel to them and had great foot stomping music. The second duo was from Wolfe Island and they perform music from the 1910’s – 1930’s and play antique instruments – they also dress and talk the part. Very cool. We’re hoping to hit the festival again this weekend!

Summer?

We had access to a pool this week but with the rain, etc. we hadn’t used it! So it was warmish yesterday and we ventured over in the evening but we didn’t last long due to the chill!!

Summer

My movie quotient is down this summer. I did see ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ – very different than the book – both good but I think I preferred the book. I still have ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘The Proposal’ on movies to see.

I haven’t read any good books this summer either! Mind you, there haven’t been any beach days to get into a book!

I am still looking for summer adventure ideas!! We did a Huron shore? weekend around Bayfield and Goderich, we have done Niagara Falls, and Picton is in the future. So much to see!

Shopping!

The cheap school supplies are out in the States – I discovered a new source as well at Miejer! Not sure which states have that store but I was in Michigan and it had better school supply rates than Target. I wouldn’t mind hitting Wal-Mart if anyone wants to make a run for the border. Didn’t spend a lot of time at Bronner’s but got some Christmas atmosphere! Did hit the outlets a lot and found some shoes!! (of course!). Now to hit the fudge I brought hom.
